No Problems at All Jan 09, 2009 Ours has performed flawlessly for over a year. The sound quality is loud and crisp with plenty of bass. It's much better in fact than our prior 5.1 setup.
its really that bad... Dec 15, 2008 This product doesn't belong on the market. The reasons why owners won't fess up to all of the problems that they are having with the DVD player is that:
1) they are incredibly embarrassed to be swindled by the marketing
2) they don't want to destroy the resale value until they've unloaded theirs
Sadly the owners of this machine aren't folks who do research, they are impulsive buyers. I hope you discover these postings within your 30 day returns period.
Imagine your movie night blown when you put in a brand new DVD, because the unit either says "format unsupported" or "cannot read disc" and then won't eject the disc to let you play it on your computer. :)

cant do hd audio, isnt close to real surround sound Jun 28, 2008 first of all the inputs are extremely limited. not to mention there isn't hdmi so you can't do HD audio signals just simple dolby with a low bitrate
for the money it costs, most people who buy it probably have an expensive television as well as possibly blu ray. if you are gonna put all that money into it then you should get the best.
the surround isnt really surround it simply puts sound behind youbut its not the same as "surround sound"
with my 5.1 setup there is a different source coming from each speaker so you can hear a bullet fly by you and hit a wall behind you. on top of that the subwoofer cant produce lows that a comprably priced subwoofer can. and the two speakers have virtually no bass at all
i work at best buy and could have gotten this set for pretty much 50 pct off but i never would its just not worth even that amount. and that also shows you just how much they jack the price up simply because of the name

Overpriced and underperforming Feb 26, 2008 A typical Bose product -- marketed with lots of hype, expensive, and performs much less well than other systems that cost at least 30-40 percent less. The sound is uneven, and your options for dubbing etc are very limited. Don't waste your money on this one.

Worst Mistake I've Ever Made Jul 13, 2007 Sound is good, but the dvd player is the worst machine ever. My 36 dollar dvd player actually out performs this one by a long shot. It won't open or close 99 percent of the time and then when it does, cannot read disc. I have since read about other having this problem, not getting the player to open or close. Here it is Fri. night, put in dvd, won't play and cannot retreive it to plug in somewhere else. PLEASE, spend your money on something other than this system.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
