Great speaker system May 17, 2010 This was an upgrade from a sony all in one surround package. It sounds great. I purchased two more speakers to make it a 7.1 system. All is good in theatre land. They are all wall mounted and blend in nicely. Looking for outdoor BA speakers now. Bought the 5.1 here at amazon for half what circuit city was sellong it for, good riddance overpriced box store.
good but only for a small room May 03, 2010 Sounds good but not enough for my large room. I recommend if room is under 170 sq ft, NO if over 220 sq ft.
Great sound for the price Apr 25, 2010 I'm using these speakers in a room that is not my main "theater" so I was interested in something relatively inexpensive from a reputable company that didn't sound tinny and weak. I was actually surprised by how full and rich these speakers sound, as I expected much less for the price. They're not likely to be mistaken for a commercial theater sound system, but they're still a very good value. Highs are bright and the sub provides more than adequate fill for an open floor plan room. I had read at least one review that mentioned a constant hum from the sub. I can confirm this, but it isn't at a level that I can hear unless I'm within a few feet of it when the system isn't being used (for a movie, TV, or music) and then only in the absence any other normal house/neighborhood sounds.
Boston Acoustics Horizon Series MCS100MDNT 5.1-Channel Speaker System (Black) is a Great System Dec 02, 2009 This is a great sounding speaker system. Originally I was looking at Bose but couldn't justify the money. Then I narrowed my search down to this set, a Polk set, and an Energy set. After talking to a manager of a high end electronics store (he is a friend and knew I wasn't buying from him) he suggested the Boston Acoustics. I love the set. I added a satelite speaker for about $50 more to get the 6.1 surround that best fits my room. I found this set for $150 more at national chains, but decided for $150 savings I could wait a week or 2 for it to arrive. I had it within 4 days. I highly recommend this system. I am no "audiophile", but I have a great appreciation for great sounding music and movies, and this system accomplishes it.
Great little surrounds to compliment my Boston Acoustics collection Sep 03, 2009 I got the MCS100 surrounds (not the 5.1 speaker system amazon thinks I bought) to compliment my HS460 Towers and my MCS130 center. These speakers are very well engineered and provide great sound quality. My home theater never sounded so good. Get them while you can because they are discontinued. My whole surround package was under $500 and sounds ridiculous. Retail this set would have been about $1500. In fact my Onkyo receiver cannot be turned past 50% as my walls feel like they are going to crumble. These will keep me happy for a long time.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
