5Old meets new  Jul 11, 2010
We bought this combo dvd/vhs blu-ray because we still have some old VHS tapes we didn't want to get rid of. It works great, is easy to use, and was a great price. We have a Panasonic TV also so the 2 pieces recognize each other which makes it even nicer.

3Early failure  Jul 08, 2010
Older model, worked fairly well, however DVD mode failed within 90 days. Has to be sent to Texas for repair or replacement. Viera Cast will not access Netflix or Hulu. No firmware upgrade planned to correct per Panasonic press releases. Player remote does not control Panasonic HD TV well and visa versa , requiring you to keep both remotes handy.

2Please reconsider!!!  Jul 07, 2010
VHS worked great at first, but after a month or so, the tracking started to give out. It takes about 10 minutes of adjusting to get the tracking to work. DVD/Blu-ray player is very limited to store bought DVDs and Blu-ray discs. I could not play home recordings on there...I would not recommend this product.

5Great value in a convenient package!  Jul 07, 2010
This Panasonic combo unit (Bluray + VHS) simplified my life. It allows me to play my old VHS tapes as well as my DVDs (upscaled) and my newest Bluray discs at 1080p through an HDMI connection. As an added bonus, it plays photos loaded onto an SD card on my flat screen TV. At the price I paid, this was a steal. Thanks Amazon and Panasonic. (I also bought one for my sister!)

4Audio/AV system use  Jun 27, 2010
This deck is part of a church commuter and audio/video system. Seems at this point to be doing a great job!

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!

Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)

The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)

"
Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."

Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
