5Panasonic 58V10 - AMAZING!  May 12, 2010
Purchased a 58" Panasonic plasma V10 from 6 Ave Electronics through Amazon. I took the free shipping which was supposed to take several days to arrive, but much to my surprise, 6th Ave shipped the very same day of my order, and 2 days later I get a call from the shipping company that the TV would be delivered the next day! They used Team WW for the shipping - the box arrived undamaged and the driver was extremely helpful in helping to get the plasma to my home theater.

I hooked up the display to an OPPO Blu Ray player and right out of the box the image and resolution was nothing short of amazing on the V10. I still have not calibrated it but tweaked the "Custom" picture setting with great results. It comes with two cooling fans that are fairly quite and for me, not noticeable even during quite passages of a movie. I am extremely pleased with it and hopefully it will last for a few years.

Right behind the viewing area there is a window that reflects quite a bit on the screen during daylight hours, but the problem should be resolved when we hang darkening drapes. Not a problem at night.

1Black levels rise after 1000 hours use  May 01, 2010
Bought my TC-P58v10 last October and was EXCEPTIONALLY pleased with the picture. About 1 month ago I noticed an annoying artifact went I changed channels. The color and black contrast looks good for about 2 seconds then washes out to a gray/white cast. Checking on the 'net it seems that Panasonic acknowledges the problem but won't do anything about it. Now I'm stuck with a TV that looks worse than a 10 year old LCD in a Sports Bar. I'm at all not happy. Don't buy Panasonic. Be happy.

5Best TV for the money  Apr 01, 2010
I have had this TV since 3/25/10. The picture is nothing short of amazing. I have it connected to AT&T Uverse service. All of the LCD and LED TV's always have a slight outline of the objects in the picture and ghosting and blur during fast action scenes along with some pixelation and jagged edges which varies in degree across differnt models. But when looking up close on this tv there is absolute none of that. The picture is razor sharp, crystal clear with very accurate color and distribution. It has a very good black which provides a nice contrast. When I first turned it on and went to the settings menu, the video settings were all at fifty percent which surprised me because all of the channels had a pretty bright picture, so any adjustments were not needed. The only thing that I did change was the picture format when watching HD channels so they will cover the whole screen. Also, even the SD channels fit very nicely on the screen and any stretching is not that noticable unless you are paying attention to it.

Overall, I don't see how any more improvements could be made except for making it 3D with all of the bugs worked out. The speakers in the tv are quite average but I can't see why anyone would make use of them anyway as it only make sense to connect to a suround sound receiver. The built in vieracast feature I have not made use of yet and is used to access a small number of popular websites. This might be fun to play with but there is not much use for it.

I gave this TV five stars and consider it a very good deal for the money.

1Sadly not better than the pn58b860's picture quality  Feb 04, 2010
Here's my situation. I purchased everything via BB because of the amazing return policy. So, initially I bought the pn58b860. I LOVED everything about it. Picture quality was to die for. I've never seen normal HD channels (like watching CSI: Miami, or anything broadcast HD football game) look so amazing via NYC timewarner cable. And everything via HDMI cords. The one major drawback: THE BUZZING NIGHTMARE. At first I tried to just get used to it, but, alas, I never could tune it out. Especially after watching a BLURAY movie and when their's a quiet scene, the BUZZ ruins everything. The other reason why I returned it, was because it came out of the box with a dead pixel, but, I know that was just a flook. But anyway, if the 860 didn't have the BUZZ I would've kept it in a second. Side note: now knowing that the only difference between the 860 and the 650 is the depth of the TV then, hell yeah, I'm gonna go for the 650. But, going on, after I returned the 860, and reading all of the great reviews of the Panasonic 58v10, I bought that from BB. I received it the other day and let me tell you the result. First of all (THANK THE LORD), NO SAMSUNG ANNOYING BUZZ. Second of all, compared to the 860, the v10 looks really crappy when it comes to picture quality, again, watching the same HD CSI:Miami etc type of shows. Nowhere near as crisp and sharp as the 860. Everything looked so much better on the 860. So, now I'm tempted to return the v10 and get the pn58b650 and hope there's no buzzing there. Anybody that owns the v10 in New York City with timewarner cable feel the same way?

UPDATE (2/14): I got my new (2nd) pn58b860 the other day. Picture quality is exactly what I was missing when I had the 58v10. The picture quality on the b860 is amazing like I had on the 1st b860. This time there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much less BUZZ than the first one. There is buzz, but, honestly, it like a very subtle hum. Nothing like the horrible super loud BUZZ of the 1st b860 that I had. Honestly, I can barely even hear it. I am please to say that I'm FINALLY done with my tv shopping. I'm gonna keep this one. Thank goodness. And, in less than a month, I'm going to have the free BB calibration on it too. Again, it was a free option because I bought this b860 during a certain time period. So, instead of paying $300 for the calibration ... it'll be free. I'll update again on the picture quality after the calibration.

4Best Choice  Jan 21, 2010
After researching hdtvs for 2 months, I finally made the best decision for my individual situation. This set would rate 5 stars, expect for a slight three inch blemish on the upper right corner thats only visible when the set is off. I was really worried about the shipping, but there were no problems. The best color and sharpness I've seen on any set .

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!

Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)

The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)

"
Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."

Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
