Description

With the introduction of the LC46LE700UN, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC46LE700UN illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's Ultra Brilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new XGen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS has ever achieved. Overall, the LC46LE700UN shows that with Sharp, it's not just LED… it's AQUOS LED.

5very pleased  Jul 30, 2010
Picture is fantastic. Sound from the unit is not impressive, but I hooked up a 35W sound bar & now it sounds great. The menu is laid out logically - easy to use. The TV defaults to using a feature which changes the the backlight of the TV (auto dims the TV) based on the rooms ambient light. It kept switching levels, so I just disabled this feature. If you're in a basement or another room which has a constant light level, it may be a nice feature, but I thought it was more annoying than useful. Anyways, I was really just after a great picture and this Sharp delivered.

4It's ALL about the picture! A very under-rated TV.  Jun 10, 2010
Incredible picture! Light weight due to LED backlighting. One of the few full-array units still on the market! Most are now edge-lit, which in effect is light Christmas lights around a window--bright edges but dark center! Does not make sense and only being done to satisfy consumer demand for sexy-thin TV's.

The Picture is near perfect. Solidly built unit, however, Sharp could have done better with the stand. Overall, photo's of this unit do not do it
justice, it looks gorgeous! Piano black finish will scratch, so use a swiffer duster on it! The remote, uninspiring, works well. Lots of HDMI ports and on-screen menus are clear and easy to use. Lots of adjustments can be made with picture quality.

Sound is from ten watt speakers. Obviously designed to hook-up to home theater sound system. Easy PC HDMI hookup is impressive. The AquosNet ethernet works well but there is really no content to even bother with. At least you can can live customer support from it. Sharp needs to add some more content soon! But don't buy a TV for internet content since you can get Netflix, etc from virtually any BluRay Player on the market now! A TV should just deliver on one thing---Picture Quality! This Aquos does!!!

The full array constant backlighting offers incredible contrast. Blacks are very dark! Color output on factory settings is very natural. Initially, it
will seem darker than normal but if you like a super-bright picture its easy to adjust, but you'll sacrifice contrast quality. I have left the factory settings and the optical ambient light-sensor works well but can be adjusted or shut-off.

I own two versions of this model, thats how impressed I am with the quality of this unit. Pro reviews of this set were mediocre but customer reviews everywhere are positive. A very under-rated unit and I just wanted to add my 2-cents! You can get a great deal on this unit since it really doesn't compete with the sexy slim edge-lit units. Consider quality over slimness.

I give this TV a solid four stars...it would have had five if the AquosNet service were more than a gimmick and the stand and remote were sleeker. Overall, a beautiful set I expect to enjoy for years to come. Its thinner and sexier than the pictures! Trust me! Don't we wish we could say that about ourselves?! :) This is a great TV!

5I love my sharp aquos LC46LE700UN  Jun 09, 2010
I have this LED flat screen for a month now and i still love. Nothing wrong with this flat screen, I don't hear any buzzing sound at all, great contrast and not even a single dead pixel. If you can buy a home theater 5.1 system such as samsung under $300 from Sam's club it will make your flat screen so much "a live" as if you were in a movie theater.

4fantastic picture  Apr 18, 2010

This TV has a really good picture!
The picture quality makes any minor flaws this set has easy to live with.
Here they are.
The sound is not loud enough for my liking.
The TV takes about 10 seconds to fire up when first turned on. No big deal.I can wait.
I don't care for the trim around the picture surface. I prefer less. However, the material quality is good.
The stand to TV attachment point could be a bit tighter.
TV's are for watching. This one is great for that!
For the price, I think this set is tough to beat. People come over and they can't believe how good the picture is. I still can't either!
I'm really happy with it so far. Got it in the beginning of 3/10.

5This the one to buy!  Apr 14, 2010
I am a professional analyst and before buying anything major I research it to the nth degree. When I started looking for a 46-inch hdtv for my new sunroom. I assumed I would end up with a Samsung or Sony or maybe a Toshiba. After reading about their shortcomings (the Samsungs have a problem with corner-flashing with the edge-lighting and the Sony, especially the V-series, had a host of issues including reliability and poor color balancing--too red), I started looking at their competitors. When I saw the Sharp in a row of other sets, it immediately caught my attention. The picture just seemed to "pop" out of the set. It just seemed so much more realistic and vivid and "lifelike." The more I looked into it, I understood why. It is an LED set, like the Sony and Samsung, but uses a different lighting approach that does not introduce the errors that are common to the others. The Sharp also had something that none of the others have...the Quattron technology. It is the only one that adds another color (yellow) to the standard red-blue-green mix. It may not sound like much, but it makes all the difference in the world. This set makes me smile every time I watch it. The room in which I placed it has a fair amount of ambient light, but the Sharp does fine there day or night. It may not be as thin as the Sammie but that is more of a gimmick than anything. I have my set mounted on a swing arm and actually prefer the more solid feel of the Sharp. As has been pointed out earlier, the 120hz is all you need for motion control. Any more than that introduces (on other sets) artifacts that are distracting. The sound is not the best (although it is as good as most)...how much performance do you expect from tiny speakers? I run my audio through an Onkyo A/V receiver and it rocks. Sharp did a fabulous job in putting a stunning LED hdtv out there for a price much less than its competition. This is the BEST 46-inch hdtv for the money, without a doubt! If you are on the bubble and can't decide, let me help. Save some money and buy the Sharp, you will be glad you did.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!

Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)

The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)

"
Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."

Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
