 VYPER DRIVE IS AWESOME! NO INPUT LAG!! Jun 27, 2010
Let me just say that this is the best TV made specifically for gamers! There is NO LAG! I never even knew it existed until I plugged my PS3 into a standard CRT TV - noticed a night and day difference. I then began doing tests on both screens and sure enough, (after thinking I was crazy) I was convinced that my AWESOME-- Sony Bravia V-Series KDL-40V4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV--- with the 120 motion flow and post scripting was a flawed with sever input lag(EVEN when played with GAME mode). I then began searching for LCD TV that had little to no lag until I came across this one.I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IT! I just wish That companies would address this issue more seriously - considering they add a GAME mode that is STILL incompetent.

*the picture quality is awesome BUT not as good as my Sony- again, IF you are a gamer who will NOT settle with frustration then you will not mind nor will you care.
*Needs SPEAKERS!the sound is OK- but shouldn't be a problem since most people and gamers have speaker set ups.
DO NOT GET FOOLED! play your console on the TV before you buy! wish I did before plunging $1,500 into my Sony. Ever since I got this TV I sold my SONY soon after-

 If you are on cable without box, do not buy Jun 10, 2010
I have had this set for ten days +/-, and am returning it tomorrow. I discussed this problem with a Sharp Tech, he confirmed my suspicions. Apparently, if there is a direct cable hookup, and there is a momentay power interruption, or, for that matter, a momentary cable failure, it erases the memory of the TV. Bottom line, the erasure means resetting the channel EZ setup menu feature, resetting takes 32+/- minutes, and does not always work according to specifications. This TV is to be avoided by anyone living in an area where thunderstorms occur frequently. Other than this very basic and unsatisfactory feature, it is an average product, nothing to brag about, but adequate if the buyer has average or below average expectations and wants to throw one's money down a rathole.

Great TV for HD Gaming Apr 14, 2010
I bought this unit especially for HD gaming and had worked out superbly. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a similar use.

...the speakers. That said, anybody have a recommendation for a or a set of external speaker(s)that would be effective - performance & cost - for this set

After my Olevia 42inch LCD blew up, I figured any new LCD would be a dramatic improvement over a tv i bought over 2 years ago. I thought I didnt really have to research a Sharp TV as I trusted their Company. It is adequate for its price. I paid $540 dollars not including tax. But I have several problems with it. First, the blur. As people mentioned on the other reviews, movement (not just fast moving of the actors or scene but any movement of the camera panning to different characters) gives off blur for a couple of seconds. It is amazing the human can pick it up but it is. It is quite frequent.
Second, the viewing angle. If not sitting directly in front of the tv, the colors and picture are very muted and washed out. The best description is the look of a bootleg copy of a movie filmed with video-camera in the theatres. It looks extremely white at times and is very distracting.
Thirdly, the glare is bad. For whatever reason, reflections of items in the room show on the screen pretty distinctively. Not sure if this corrected by changing brightness.
The HD seems fine when the picture is not moving while not spectacular. Standard Definition looks pretty bad. I doubt its defective. I just think it is low end. My understanding is it uses 60hz which is the cause of the blur. What I don't get is why my olevia didn't suffer from any of these problems.
Honestly, I would seriously think of returning it and maybe getting a smaller yet better tv but it seems like crapshoot when you buy these low to mid range tvs. Even the reviews cant truly be trusted as personal preference, annoyance factor, and other things make it very subjective. I know I am in the minority here regarding the quality of the tv but I have had 3 big screen tvs and have friends who have others, and these problems I list are real. Wish they werent but they are.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
