"Sound, no picture" problem but Toshiba backs it Feb 04, 2010 I have had my Toshiba 32AV500U for 16 months and love it. Picture is clear and crisp. Colors are great. My only complaint would be there is no auto-off timer which I like to use on a regular basis incase I fall asleep at night watching TV. But I noticed a few months ago that when I turn it on, the sound comes on but not the picture. I would turn it off once, twice or more and then it would work. It was annoying me especially since it was past warranty. I decided this week to go to the Toshiba web site to see if anyone else had complained and if there was a remedy. Best thing I did because as it turns out Toshiba extended the warranty on this model for an additional 12 months and is fixing the TV for free. My next TV, whenever that will be, will probably be a Toshiba with customer support like that.

Was good until... Apr 22, 2009 I bought this TV in 2008. It was good until it started to have issues with the picture. The issue is: Occasionally, I'll turn the TV on, only the sound comes on and not the picture. This doesn't happen every time but enough for me to consider it a problem that could only get worse. I'm now trying to figure out how to return it and find a replacement. Hopefully I can... I would think it's under warranty.

expensive garbage Mar 30, 2009 This seems to be a nice set at first, however after 3 months it started having power problems. now it turns itself off and on 4 times a night, and im sure one day it will not work at all. Toshiba wont fix it since i received it as a gift with no receipt, and on top of that it had been purchased at circuit city which is out of business. Dont wast your money
Great Buy Jan 21, 2009 This television is a great buy for the money. I'm not an expert on electronics so I cannot go into much detail. The television was shipped promptly and was received in perfect condition. The seller was ABT Electronics.
great second tv Jan 20, 2009 The picture on this 720p is awesome.. the sound is descent as well. Have it in the bedroom w a dvr and absolutely love it. I ended up paying 497 for it and am exstatic. You can also use it as a monitor for a pc if you want one that large. great buy

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
